Common ultrasounds you can book
Ultrasound uses sound waves instead of radiation, so it's often used for the abdomen, gallbladder, kidneys, pelvis, thyroid, breast and blood vessels, and for pregnancy. Most ultrasounds take 20 to 45 minutes.
Every price on Radiology Save includes the scan, the radiologist's read and your report.
How to keep your ultrasound affordable
- Ask your doctor whether a limited exam answers the question. A limited ultrasound is cheaper than a complete one.
- Book at an outpatient imaging center rather than a hospital for scheduled scans.
- Follow the prep instructions (some abdominal ultrasounds need fasting) so you don't have to come back.

Frequently asked questions
How much does an ultrasound cost without insurance?
Hospital ultrasound prices without insurance often range from $300 to $1,000. On Radiology Save, ultrasound cash prices at accredited centers start much lower; the live starting prices are on this page.
Can I book a pregnancy ultrasound without insurance?
Yes. You can book OB ultrasounds for the first, second or third trimester with an order from your doctor or midwife.
Do I need a doctor's order?
Yes. Every imaging study needs a physician's order (a referral or prescription for the scan). You can book first and upload the order afterward from the secure link in your confirmation email. If you don't have one yet, your primary care, urgent care or telehealth doctor can write it.
What does the price include?
The price you see is the full price: the scan itself, the board-certified radiologist's read and your written report. There is no separate radiologist bill and no facility fee added later.
Can I use my HSA or FSA card?
In most cases, yes. Diagnostic imaging is generally an eligible medical expense, and HSA and FSA debit cards work like regular cards at checkout. Check with your plan administrator if you're unsure.
Can I use Radiology Save if I have Medicare or Medicaid?
No. Radiology Save cannot be used by participants of state or federally funded programs such as Medicare or Medicaid.
